About

ROK ICT! is an organization working to foster a positive attitude for, and activity within, the Wichita arts community. We create and implement projects that focus on increasing communication, information accessibility, community involvement, and advocacy. Our organization performs a wide variety of activities, such as web development/hosting, event production, and coordinating volunteer efforts.

History

  • On November 8th, 2008, ROKICT.com was launched as an event calendar and social network focused on Wichita arts.
  • In December of 2008, ROK ICT! joined Hartke Records, and Downtown Development to form the First Friday committee.
  • On April 3rd, 2009, in collaboration with over a dozen downtown businesses, ROK ICT! produced the debut of First Friday – Wichita’s Downtown Music Crawl.
  • On January 12th, 2010 ROK ICT! introduced local music to Wichita’s new INTRUST Bank Arena, with the “ROK ICT! Local Music Night”, featuring 14 local performing acts.
  • In a press conference on November 6th, 2009, ROK ICT! announced a partnership with NakedCity Magazine, in which the two would work together to produce NakedCityWichita.com, an online resource for local arts featuring an events calendar, artist/venue listings, media and blogs.
  • In February of 2010, ROK ICT! closed its project with NakedCityWichita.com and moved the event calendar, artist listing, and venue listing back to ROKICT.com to serve as a database resource for the Wichita community.
  • In April of 2010, ROK ICT! formally announced the relaunch of ROKICT.com as the premiere resource for information about Wichita arts.

The Team

Jared Brickman – Executive Director

Jared Brickman is an authority on internet technology, artfully blending together design, development, and social media into creative, modern marketing solutions for practical business application. He currently holds a position as Digital Brand Manager at Greteman Group, leading the development of marketing strategies in new technology. As Executive Director of ROK ICT!, a local arts & entertainment guide, Jared’s endeavors have been featured by many local media outlets, such as: the Wichita Eagle, KWCH (CBS), KSN (NBC), NakedCity Magazine, and Young Professional Wichita’s “Chats with Changers”. He has been asked to speak at events held by the Wichita Chamber of Commerce, Visioneering Wichita, Wichita State University, Butler Community College, Wichita Professional Communicators, Young Professionals Wichita, and other local organizations. Jared holds a bachelor’s degree in Music Business from the Crane School of Music, and continues to search for new opportunities to develop his career in digital branding.

Dan Welden – Intern, Wichita State University

In joining ROK ICT!, Welden brings with him more than 7 years of customer relation and marketing experience.  Most recently he has become an Ambassador for Young Professionals of Wichita, representing the organization at local media outlets.  Welden has held various leadership positions at several organizations such as Enterprise, TCS Group, and WPS Wholesale.  He is currently pursuing his Bachelors in Business Administration with Minors in HR Management and Operations Management at Wichita State University.  Welden joins the team at ROK ICT! as the organization gears up to produce its next big event, set to be announced later this spring.

Johnathan Willis – Intern, Friends University

Johnathan Willis is a classically trained baritone whom has a passion for music and the arts. He is excited about interning with ROK ICT. He is currently seeking a Bachelors of Science Degree in Music Business at Friends University. While attending Friends Johnathan is an active member and logistics officer for the Friends University Singing Quakers.
